Detailed description

Energy Efficiency

The usage of automated functions already save energy in every installation. Especially the usage of KNX has a lot of potential for further energy savings, which can contribute to a better environmental footprint. Be extending KNX to more functions and applications, energy savings of up to 60% can be realised. Thanks to the flexibility of KNX, these functions can easily be implemented in this installation


Smart homes and buildings are always an upgrade in comparison to a conventional installation. Not only automated functions and a higher level of comfort contribute to a higher living standard, but also the possibility to be ready for coming innovations. Thanks to the usage of KNX, the door has been opened to integrate new innovative solutions, using the worldwide STANDARD for home and building control.

Customer's description

After two years of planning and work, the Basilica of St.Peter in the Vatican City now has an entirely new and dynamic lighting system.Designed to save 90% in electricity use, it provides special illumination effects in perfect harmony with specific worshiping scenarios.These illumination effects also reveal details of the Basilica that have never been seen before in its 500 years of history.They enhance the splendor of the diverse masterpieces that adorn the interior of the building.The lighting system is composed of 700 DALI and DMX projectors and 3km of LED strips controlled with KNX by means of using Progea’s Movicon NExT SCADA with Web technology.Each projector has dimmers that are controlled during normal use of the Basilica to save on electricity consumption.The KNX system permits personnel to monitor and control electricity consumptions,the status of light bulbs and system alarms and also activate different illumination scenarios in function with the different activities.
